Neuropsychological Evaluations

A neuropsychological (i.e., neurocognitive) evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of how the brain is functioning in everyday life, including memory, attention, thinking, and emotional functioning. I specialize in neuropsychological and psychological testing for individuals ages 10 through older adulthood (i.e., geriatric population).

I have experience assessing a wide variety of medical, neurologic, and psychiatric diagnoses, including but not limited to neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Alzheimers disease, Frontotemporal Dementia), traumatic brain injury (i.e., concussion), stroke, movements disorders, normal pressure hydrocephalus, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, tumors, metabolic disorders, Autism, and ADHD.

Your evaluation will consist of a review of available medical records and/or prior neuroimaging provided by the patient, an interview with you, and possible other person who knows you well, completing a series of tasks which measure your cognitive functions, and a separate feedback session to review results and specific recommendations 2 weeks later.

Findings can be used to support treatment planning, therapy goals, academic or workplace accommodations, medical decision-making, daily living supports, and long-term planning.

Results help clarify strengths and areas of difficulty, identify possible causes of cognitive or emotional changes, and guide next step recommendations to promote healthy brain aging.

Evaluations are typically conducted in-person; however based on initial consultation on a case-by-case basis evaluations may be adapted to suite tele-health remote evaluation upon request.

Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluation

A comprehensive neurocognitive evaluation includes a broad and carefully selected set of assessments designed to provide a detailed picture of an individual’s cognitive and emotional functioning well suited for adults and older adults. This type of evaluation helps identify patterns of strengths and difficulties and clarify the underlying causes of symptoms and provide diagnostic clarity (e.g., mild cognitive impairment vs. dementia). For example, testing can help determine whether difficulties are more consistent with anxiety, attention-related challenges such as ADHD, or changes related to neurological illness (e.g., Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, FTD), or injury (e.g., TBI, stroke, tumor resection).

Targeted Evaluation

A targeted neurocognitive evaluation focuses on specific concerns or questions, such as attention, memory, or thinking skills, rather than assessing all areas of cognitive functioning. It is well suited for adolescents and adults with focused concerns related to Autism or ADHD, mood or anxiety symptoms, work or academic performance. Results help clarify the cause of symptoms, guide treatment planning, and inform practical recommendations such as therapy goals, medical follow-up, or academic and workplace/academic accommodations.

Brief Screener

A brief cognitive and/or emotional evaluation is a focused screening that provides a snapshot of thinking, memory, attention, and/or emotional functioning. It is well suited for adolescents and adults with mild or recent cognitive or mood concerns, stress-related difficulties, or early memory questions, and for those seeking clarity about next steps. Results help identify areas of concern, guide initial treatment or referrals, provide reassurance when appropriate, and determine whether more comprehensive evaluation or monitoring is recommended.

Healthy Brain & Aging;

Baseline Neuropsychological Evaluation

A healthy brain and aging; baseline neurocognitive evaluation provides a snapshot of current thinking, memory, attention, and emotional functioning. It serves as a personal reference point to help identify and track changes over time benificial for adults and older adults. Baseline evaluations are helpful for individuals interested in proactive brain health seeking recommendations to optimize cognitive functioning as they age, those with a family history of neurological conditions, chronic medical or neurological conditions, or anyone who wants to establish a clear measure of their cognitive functioning for future comparison.

Pre/Post-Head Injury Concussion Evaluation

Baseline and post-injury neurocognitive evaluations are used to assess thinking, memory, and attention before and after a concussion or head injury. A baseline evaluation provides a personal reference point when an individual is healthy, while post-injury testing helps determine the impact of an injury and monitor recovery. These evaluations are helpful for adolescents, adults, and older adults in sports or high-risk activities, those with prior concussions, or individuals with ongoing symptoms. Results guide return-to-school, work, or activity decisions, clarify contributing factors to symptoms, and support treatment and recovery planning.

Pre/Post Neurosurgical Evaluation

A pre- and post-neurosurgical neurocognitive evaluation is used to assess cognitive and emotional functioning before and/or after brain  surgery.

The pre-surgical evaluation establishes a clear baseline of cognitive functioning prior to surgery, while the post-surgical evaluation helps determine how cognition and daily functioning may have changed following the procedure.

These evaluations are often recommended for individuals undergoing neurosurgical procedures such as tumor resection, epilepsy surgery (VNS/RNS), deep brain stimulation (DBS), or other interventions that may affect brain function. The evaluation helps clarify current strengths and areas of vulnerability, inform surgical planning, and guide expectations for recovery.

Results are used to monitor cognitive changes over time, support medical decision-making, guide rehabilitation or therapy recommendations, and assist with return-to-work, school, or daily activities.

Fees

Neuropsychological evaluations are personalized services, and fees vary depending on the referral question, age, complexity of concerns, and the amount of testing and interpretation needed.

For this reason, a brief consultation is required to determine the most appropriate evaluation and provide an accurate estimate.

Typical self-pay fee ranges:

  • Brief/Head-Injury/Pre-Surgical: $500 - $1,500

  • Baseline/Focused evaluations: $1,000–$3,000

  • Comprehensive evaluations: $3,000–$6,000

Fees generally include the clinical interview, testing, scoring and interpretation, written report, and a feedback session to review results and recommendations.  I do not accept insurance but will be happy to provide a superbill upon request.

A complimentary phone consultation is offered to discuss concerns, answer questions, and provide a personalized fee estimate before scheduling. Payment policies, scheduling details, and any required deposits will be reviewed in advance

Evaluations can be conducted in-person or via tele-health depending on the appropriateness of the referral. If you have questions about whether a neuropsychological evaluation is right for you or a loved one, please contact the office to schedule a consultation.
